Bridge
We meet on a Friday morning at the Audley Shiplake Meadows from 10 to 12 noon. We play friendly rubber bridge using ACOL and common conventions but with more frequent changes of partners than is usual. Alas, we cannot teach absolute beginners.
As with most clubs we expect players in regular sessions to have a good working knowledge of the game.
Players to have "at minimum, a good understanding of basic Acol bridge conventions and be confident in bidding and playing out contracts unassisted".
Players should generally:
- Understand basic scoring, rules, and etiquette.
- Be able to shuffle and deal.
- Have a grasp of basic bidding conventions (e.g., 1NT opening responses, Stayman, transfers).
- Be able to play at a reasonable pace (typically a board every 7-8 minutes).
