Community Choir

Lively Community Choir held in the Pavilion at Shiplake College on Wednesday evenings from 6 to 7:30pm in term-time.

With 50-60 members aged from 20 to 70, we sing a mainly pop repertoire, in four-part harmony. We do sing from music scores, but music-reading ability isn't necessary. There is no audition, all are welcome. We have great fun and are a very friendly and lively choir, with interval refreshments consisting of wine and nibbles! The choir costs just £10 per year (to cover the wine!)

Community Choir Concert

On Saturday, 23rd April, Shiplake Community Choir presents our second full-length concert, at Christ Church URC, Reading Road, Henley, at 7:30pm. Songs for Springtime will be a lively and fun evening of light music and jolly banter that will get your toes tapping and your heart singing! We will be joined by the marvellous Sam Brown and her International Ukulele Orchestra of Sonning Common. The choir's programme will include favourites from the Beatles, the Beach Boys, the Bee Gees, Paul Simon, David Bowie and Les Miserables, while the Ukuleles will entertain with a selection of popular pieces performed with their usual panache. The two groups will join together at the end for surprise joint number that we guarantee the audience will want to join in with!

Tickets are £8 (£5 for children/students) and are available from choir members and from Sue Arpino at Shiplake College on sarpino@shiplake.org.uk or 0118 970 4854. There should also be tickets available on the door but we can't guarantee this so best to get your tickets this week to make sure you don't miss out! There will be a bar available before, during and after the concert. There is some parking at the Church but your best bet might be Greys Road or Henley station car-parks, both of which are only a short walk away. Do come and join us and we look forward to seeing you on Saturday for what promises to be a brilliant evening!

Profits from this concert will be donated to the ‘Sane’ charity supporting mental health.
