BT Broadband down 8jan2020

Just wondering if anyone else is affected, we have lost BT Broadband connectivity since late last night. BT claim 'an issue in the area'. They expect to fix it THURSDAY by 1030.

Anyone else or is it just us?

Engineer here again Wednesday. Thats fourth now. Nothing wrong with my installation. The fault is in either in the road opposite my house or in the cabinet outside corner shop. The last engineer like those before him is baffled and cannot find it being intermittent. He asked if we could relate future drops to any other anomaly like rain etc. Apparently there are two systems running in the cabinet outside the post office so that BT 'dont have all their eggs in one cabinet'. OFCOM next stop

Thank you Martyn. I tried your route this morning when it went down again and it is a lot easier than logging onto BT, if you have a connection that is. They are sending another engineer on Wednesday. That's the fourth. But they don't admit to me that there is a problem in the village. It only seems to be on the new fibre broadband. My neighbours are still on the old version and have no problems.

@edward Ours returned to 'normal' Late on Wednesday (ahead of schedule) been ok since. I was communicating by text - easier to ensure the points you made are understood, text number was 61 998. Start by sending FAULT xxxxxxxxxxxx . where xxxxxxxxx = Landline number. Worked well for me.

My line still keeps dropping. Been down numerous times over the last 3 days.It usually happens when in the middle of something important. While on a 'chat' with BT help today it dropped 4 times & each time had a new operator & had to start all over again. They are all in India I think. The first one was called Harshita the second Supramit and the last one when I gave up was Tamashi. They all promised as before to get it fixed but its still the same. They are now offering compensation.

I had new fibre BT broadband installed in November. No a problem before. The line kept dropping.They sent an engineer 18 Dec who replaced 2 BT sockets and disconnected 2 others that had not been installed by BT. It did not improve. They arranged to come again but did not turn up. They booked another visit on 30th and traced the problem to the BT manhole opposite my house. It did not improve. I was on again yesterday for ages on the 'CHAT' line who said they would sort it. We shall see. Grrrrrrr!

So it looks a bit Patchy my immediate neighbour bizarrely reports no ongoing issue. Probably more an issue in the Openreach cabinet (down by the Corner shop) itself so physical doesn't = virtual neighbour. I did in fact ask for a 4g hotspot when I reported the issue thsi morning but was told it will be fixed before the hotspot arrives! Lets see! Looks like im on iphone hotspot for the foreseeable.

My provider is BT and no service at all. Have gained internet access 'toggling'/linking other devices using my cell phone as a server...seems to be working as a temporary fix. On iPhone....try 'personal Hotspot' under 'settings'. Hope BT fixes the network tomorrow latest.

I don’t seem able to log on to the website to reply to this. Our internet is down. I have been in touch with BT and they say there is a fault in the area. They are going to sort it by 13 January and are sending me a mini hub. Cheryl

Ours is out as well. We are with Talktalk and have reported it to them too.
