New name for houses??

Does anyone know why the new houses on the Reading Road are going to be called Regency Place!? What an inappropriate name for a rural development. Surely they can think of something better! Do the local councils have any control over the names of roads and estates?

Mercifully, 'Regency Place' is just a marketing brand and has no bearing on the final estate/road names.

Thanks David, I wonder what the other two options were! I hope that when the houses are built and there are individual roads within the estate, the road names will be more sensible. Then, maybe, the name of Regency Place will be redundant.

This is the response I got from the developer: "The name of Regency Place was selected at the end of last year. We wanted the local community to have some involvement in the Marketing name and so after narrowing our name choices down to 3 options, we created a survey that was served digitally to visitors of the Shiplake Christmas Fair. The votes made Regency Place the winner and so the development name was confirmed."

Hi Pam, I am also baffled by this name. Presumably it refers to Prince Albert (the Regent prince). The McCarthy & Stone retirement development in Henley also has a similar link to him as does a road "Albert Road". (Does anyone have any background on the relevance of Prince Albert to Henley?) In advance of your post, I have already raised enquiries relating to addresses in the development.

Absolutely agree with you, Pam. Totally irrelevant .

Pam, If you think it’s an inappropriate name, you can complain ditto SODC planning. Emma Beaumont is the Planning Officer in charge of the application. If enough people think it is inappropriate the PC. Could approach the developer directly to discuss it.
